Coffee here grows on slopes you'd think twice about walking.
Santander's coffee farms sit high on the eastern cordillera. One family. One hillside.
Every bean tells the story of our roots. Grown at Finca La Samaria in Vereda San José, Santander, our coffee comes from the care we give our Castillo crops.
Santander's coffee was the first in Colombia to win a protected designation of origin, in 2014. Most of the department's coffee grows under shade, where the fruit ripens slowly and the bean keeps more of its sugar.
Castillo is a Colombian variety: Cenicafé spent 23 years breeding it to stand up to leaf rust without giving up the cup. In the cup, ours is sweet, with bright citric acidity, a medium body and an intense aroma.
Coffee, to us, is more than a drink. It is a warm hug, a memory, a moment of connection. Wherever you are in the world, we want the flavour and aroma of our coffee to bring you back home.
